Josh Alexander’s contract with TNA Wrestling is up. Over the past couple of months, we've seen TNA let a few big names slip away, including Jordynne Grace, Rhyno, and PCO, with the most notable being Jordynne Grace, who officially debuted for WWE at this past weekend’s Royal Rumble. Could we see “The Walking Weapon” join Grace in WWE? I would be a massive fan of WWE signing this talented grappler.
We didn’t see him move to NXT over the last year, like Joe Hendry and Hammerstone during the initial NXT/TNA crossover, which I was disappointed by. I’m a big fan of Josh Alexander. He’s a technical machine with the ability to be a top guy, and he can get both himself and his opponent over on the mic. He’s been TNA’s franchise player for the past four years, becoming their longest-reigning World Champion ever.
His former tag team partner from The North, Ethan Page, has been in NXT for over a year and has blossomed into one of the top heels on the brand. I would love to see Josh join Ethan and reunite for another run as The North. Both guys have proven they can break out as singles stars, but I think putting them together at first would give them a better chance to get over. That said, I wouldn’t mind seeing them feud immediately. A blood feud between the former friends could be compelling, and I'm sure they’d be able to use clips of them together in TNA. Either way, I think magic could happen between these two.
Josh would most likely start off in NXT, like Ethan Page. While he is incredibly talented, he’s not yet on the level of someone like AJ Styles in terms of both talent and popularity. Although we did see the Motor City Machine Guns debut on the main roster within the past six months, it’s possible Josh could skip NXT—but I think that’s unlikely.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments. With Josh Alexander being a free agent, do you think he will sign with WWE? Or could he sign with AEW? Either company would be lucky to have him, but I believe he fits so much better in WWE. WWE would also provide him with a larger audience to grow his name and establish himself.
