Tribal Combat Was Worthy of Being the First Match of the WWE on Netflix Era

The first match of WWE's Netflix era was a tale of carnage between family members. There were numerous broken tables and weapons used during Tribal Combat between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. It was a great match to start the Netflix on Raw.

Near the end of the match, the New Bloodline came out in support of Solo Sikoa highlighted by Jacob Fatu crashing down from the top rope onto Roman Reigns. Then Sami Zayn and Jimmy Uso came out in support of Roman Reigns. It looked like Roman Reigns would seal it up but Solo kicked out at two like Roman did moments earlier. Roman was setting up for the win and Kevin Owens came down to the ring to stun The OTC.

This is starting to feel like 2000 WCW with the amount of run-ins here. Cody Rhodes then comes out and takes Kevin Owens out of the equation. Roman Reigns spears Solo Sikoa to win Tribal Combat. I think that was a great first match for the Raw on Netflix era. To be fair the run-ins it's a good way to introduce some of the company's key players to viewers who many only be tuning in for an hour or so.

Reigns is about to be presented with the Ula Fala by Paul Heyman and The Rock's music hits. Earlier in the show Rock came out as a babyface and he stayed the course here. He took the Ula Fala from Paul Heyman and presented it to Roman Reigns, himself. They hugged said, they love each other off the mic and it was a pretty nice moment for their family.

On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How t...

I'm thrilled for him to be in the spot that he's in. Something tells me this won't be the last time he holds gold in WWE.
