If you've stuck around after AEW Dynamite the past couple of weeks, you've seen Dana White's Power Slap. It's kind of like the opposite of wrestling. Guy's actually hitting each other and splitting each other open for real. No real showmen. Very opposite of how pro wrestling is.
Power slapping is a sport that involves participants slapping each other with all their strength until one person is knocked out or unable to continue. It has been compared to a combination of martial arts, boxing, and wrestling. The objective of the game is to deliver the most powerful slap to the opponent, and the winner is the one who is able to deliver the most powerful slap.
Many people are outraged by the violent nature of the power slap league, claiming that it promotes aggression and violence. Critics argue that the sport is dangerous and could lead to serious injuries, both physically and emotionally. They also argue that the power slap league sends the wrong message to young people, encouraging them to resolve conflicts through violence instead of peaceful means.
On the other hand, supporters of the power slap league argue that it is a legitimate sport that requires discipline, training, and skill. They argue that the sport is no different than other contact sports such as football or hockey, and that the rules and regulations in place ensure the safety of the participants.
As the power slap league continues to gain popularity, it will be interesting to see how the debate surrounding the sport plays out. However, it is important to consider that by promoting physical harm or violence as a form of entertainment is not acceptable and can have serious consequences. Encourage peaceful means of resolving conflicts is a much better way to promote a healthy society.
Warner Media has allowed this on their programming but wouldn't allow The Briscoes to wrestle. What is the point of this? For non-athletic guys to get in on beating each other up?
Power slap league can be argued to be insane. Why any rationale person would sign up for it? I'm not sure. Especially since UFC veteran, Eric Spicely called out the low offer they gave him.
While some see it as a legitimate sport that requires discipline and skill, others see it as a dangerous and violent activity that promotes aggression. Ultimately, it's important to consider the potential consequences and impact on society before participating or promoting such a sport.
